What keeps you kicking? What’s that one thing that you cannot live with ? Most of us don’t know these answers because we never search for those in first place. These gets lost in our tutored childhoods, in college journals or in office files. But these are hidden in our toys, books or conversations with friends. And then there comes a point – the Eureka moment – when you sense that spark! A lot us ignore that but some pick that up to light the torch ! That’s the thing ! But there’s no method to this madness ! You gotto find it yourself and make your own !
Since my early days one thing that fascinated me was Travel ! I don’t think my parents, like any middle class family of that time were very fond of travel as it was considered a luxury then. However, we travelled sometimes to nearby places and within Mumbai and in India. Amongst many things that my parents did encourage me to do is to read and I somehow I liked reading travel books, magazines, travel articles in newspapers. It wasn’t a coincidence that my favourite subject was Geography. So it wasn’t a surprise that my hunger for travel was growing.
Unlike today’s kids who have the luxury of travelling at a younger age, I started travelling international only after I started working. Before that I did travel within India – with my parents, sometimes alone and a lot of tines with friends. As time progressed, the desire for travel was growing and affordability as well. I am quite a social person and have maintained contacts with my friends of childhood, even kindergarten buddies! I am lucky to have met people through this journey and I have nurtured these friendships into special bondings. As I travelled through times, I found a new companion which has turned out to be my travel buddy as well and that’s my camera ! I found a new purpose to explore the world and showcase to others and in some way inspire the next generation to see this beautiful planet.

In today’s terms, it is said that this world is borderless and connected all the time. But the truth is that however connected the world is through the technology, there are still borders that define countries, people and cultures. You may see thousands of pictures and YouTube videos, it’s a different thing experiencing those moments. And you can only do that by physically travelling there and discovering the world , discover yourself! Travelling presents an unfiltered view of the world beyond the projections of Facebooks and Instagrams !
Travel is a great teacher and with every travel, you learn something new & unique. It’s not just the destinations but the journeys themselves are quite exciting. Even the times spent at airports & train stations and the people you meet during these journeys can tell you something that you may leave you in awe. In one of the flights while descending to Moscow, Anatoli – my neighbour in the flight to Moscow explained how the 4 circular rings of Moscow look like ! It was a fascinating view in the night and I would’ve never known had he not explained it to me. I have been to so many countries and so much is yet to be covered. There are some great experiences and some unique tales those are associated with these travels that I thought it’s worth sharing through this medium.
